| Great night back with the members of the Dobbs Ferry Fire Department for an intense Firefighter Survival program. We started with calling the MAYDAY, making sure every firefighter is comfortable transmitting the information that could save their life. From there, members worked through our entanglement prop, practicing techniques to stay calm, free themselves, and keep moving when conditions go bad. Crews then tackled reduced-profile maneuvers through wall studs, reinforcing body positioning, SCBA management, and problem-solving in tight spaces before finishing the night with Firefighter CPR, because saving one of our own starts with being prepared long before the emergency happens. No gimmicks. No shortcuts. Just realistic, hands-on training that builds confidence when the stakes are at their highest. Our entanglement prop includes wire hazards, low profiles, crawling hazards, and ends with a drywall breach with a stud that can be knocked out and replaced. Thanks to the officers and members of the Dobbs Ferry Fire Department, Irvington, and the Ardsley Fire department for another outstanding night of training. |
