| This week, members of the Putnam Lake Fire Department hosted Signal 73 Fire Training for a highly relevant program on the growing hazards associated with lithium-ion batteries and electric vehicle incidents.
This was an in-depth awareness class focused not only on EV emergencies, but also on the increasing number of fires and incidents involving everyday lithium-ion powered devices — including:
- E-bikes and scooters
- Power tool batteries
- Energy storage systems
- Consumer electronics
- Electric and hybrid vehicles
Lithium-ion batteries are now everywhere in our communities, and understanding these evolving hazards is essential for today’s fire service.
