| Thursday was a double header of training. The evening wrapped up with a lecture on EV and Lithium-Ion battery emergencies. Members from the Mahopac Fire Department reviewed the hazards associated with electric vehicles, battery construction, and the dangers of thermal runaway. The discussion also covered operational considerations for the first arriving company, suppression challenges, and the realities firefighters are now facing as EVs and LI battery powered items become more common in our response districts. Understanding these incidents and how they differ from traditional vehicle fires is becoming critical knowledge for today’s fire service. If your department is looking to get ahead of the curve with EV/Lithium-Ion Battery Incident Training, reach out to schedule a class. Signal 73 Fire Training |
