| Last night we were back with the members of the Somers Fire Department for our Elevator Emergency Awareness Program.
This foundational class is built to give first responders the skills and confidence to handle elevator emergencies in their first-due district.
Members reviewed:
🔹 Different types of elevator systems
🔹 How to properly secure power
🔹 Safe methods to access the elevator car
🔹 Proper use of the Fire Service Key
🔹 Best practices for common elevator calls
Elevator incidents are a routine response in many districts — from medical emergencies and fire alarms to power failures and mechanical issues. Knowing the system means faster, safer outcomes for everyone involved.
